Kia ora!

We (Eleanor and Marko) are known associates and bonafide friends who share an embarrassingly intense interest in all things urban. This substack is a place to put our various thoughts and enthusiasms down on (virtual) paper.

We’re both self-identified YIMBYs although, full disclosure, Eleanor doesn’t actually have a backyard and Marko only rents his.

We met volunteering for Generation Zero – a youth-led climate action organisation in Aotearoa New Zealand – where we worked together on a number of campaigns including the wildly successful City for People campaign that pressured Wellington City Council into significantly up-zoning the city in 2021

Since then, we’ve both served brief stints in the public service. Marko is now a lawyer in Wellington and Eleanor has moved to the Netherlands for post-graduate studies.

We’ve recently co-authored an article for Works in Progress magazine on up-zoning New Zealand
